Everyone is talking about digitalization, grateful expected on one, terribly feared on the other side. But what is the core meaning behind the word digitalisation, what is the cultural technique we created, which is perceived as deliverance and doom at the same time?

Thinking about digitalization, words like Social Media, Industry 4.0 e.g. come to our mind. But we need to open our understanding of the word in order make it clear and precise. In its core digitalization is the technique to reduce our world to the binary system.
This reduction is widely seen as a method, but in fact, it is an ambiguous process. To construct this technique of reduction an extensive change in the thinking of men was necessary. At the same time, this technique broadened and accelerated the change in the thinking of men.
